For most brides, wedding dress shopping is unfamiliar territory. You may be wondering, “what do I bring to my appointment?” As always, we’ve got you covered!  Our team has compiled a comprehensive list of our tips and items to bring that will leave you feeling prepared for a successful day of dress shopping.

Inspiration: It’s time to put your Instagram and Pinterest boards to work! Daydream about your special day and sift through social media, Blissful Bridal online web pages, or even magazines for inspiration. Consider how you want to look and feel on your wedding day. From your personal style to your personality, your wedding dress should be a direct reflection of the most elevated version of yourself.

Our bridal stylists recommend browsing Blissful Bridal gowns through the designers our website and marking down the designers’ styles dresses of interest. Please make it known to your personal bridal stylist if there is a specific gown you are hoping to try on during your appointment.

If it feels as though your inspiration is scattered, no need to worry! This is completely normal and it is important to trust your personal bridal stylist to help you narrow your vision.

Your Budget: Consider how much you are willing and able to spend on your gown. Be mindful that elements such as accessories and alterations are additional. Be honest with your personal bridal stylist as to a realistic price point you would like to be mindful of.

Undergarments: First and foremost, the Blissful Bridal team’s first priority is that you feel the utmost comfort and confidence from the moment you walk into our showroom. The only item that is required during your bridal appointment is any type of panty or underwear due to sanitation reasons. Everything else is optional!

Cups and boning within traditional wedding gowns provide structure and support. For most brides, it eliminates the need for a bra entirely. For this reason, our bridal stylists typically suggest forgoing a bra during your appointment. Of course, you are welcome to bring a strapless bra or any type of adhesive bra if it makes you feel the most comfortable. Any variation of shape wear, especially those that are nude and seamless, is optional but sometimes helpful to obtain a better vision especially if you’re planning on wearing it on your wedding day.

Hair Style: It's a good idea to consider your wedding day hairstyle when deciding how to manage your hair during fittings. By emulating your intended hairstyle, you can better visualize how the gown will look on the actual day. Some brides even opt to schedule their hair or makeup trial on the same day as their dress appointment to fully envision their bridal look.

Tans: It's important to refrain from getting a fresh spray tan before the appointment to ensure the cleanliness of the sample gowns for all brides. This consideration helps maintain the quality and integrity of the gowns for everyone's enjoyment during fittings.

Shoes: It's often recommended to go barefoot during most of your bridal appointment, as it facilitates trying on various gowns more easily and quickly. However, wearing socks is advised to protect your feet. Pedestals are available in both your individual fitting room and the main showroom to provide additional lift if needed.

If you intend to wear heels on your wedding day, feel free to bring a pair with you. Even if they're not the exact pair you plan to wear on the day, some brides like to slip on shoes once they've found their favourite gown. Bringing your shoes can enhance your confidence and help you envision your overall bridal look more accurately.

Your Support Team: You're welcome to bring up to three guests to accompany you during your bridal appointment. It's important to choose family or friends who will provide the support and celebration you need during this special moment.

For brides who wish to involve more friends or family, there are alternative ways to include them in the wedding preparation process. Events like accessories appointments or final fittings can be just as meaningful. By dividing these activities among your group, you can ensure that you don't feel overwhelmed by too many opinions at once. This approach allows each person to contribute to your wedding experience in a unique and special way.

Remain open to the possibilities: Before you step into our showroom, take a moment to reflect on your own beauty and the significance of this special moment. Enter with a positive and open mindset, reminding yourself of the joy and excitement that comes with finding your dream dress.

Keep in mind that many brides end up selecting a gown that surprises them, and your perfect dress may come sooner or later than you expect. It's all part of the journey.

Remember, choosing your wedding dress is a deeply emotional decision. Trust your instincts and embrace the experience without any regrets.
